1. How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

 

•Make sure you eat and stay hydrated before your appointment. Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Avoid drinking alcohol the day of your session. This can thin your blood and typically hurts more.

 

2. How do I choose the right design?

 

•You can provide references, discuss ideas with me and we can work together to create something personal and unique

 

.3. Can I bring in my own design?

 

•Yes, you can bring your own design, but keep in mind that not all designs translate well to tattoos. I may suggest adjustments to ensure it looks great and lasts over time and I won’t do direct copies of other artists work.

 

4. Does getting a tattoo hurt?

 

•Pain levels vary depending on the placement of the tattoo and your personal pain tolerance. Areas of the body that are vital to survival will typically hurt more. So anywhere near a major artery, vital organ or joint, i.e elbow, ribs, armpit.

 

5. How long will my tattoo take to heal?

 

•Healing times can vary, but typically a tattoo takes about 2 weeks to heal. There are variables to this, so please feel free to ask.

 

6. What is the aftercare process?

 

•Aftercare involves keeping the tattoo clean, moisturized, and avoiding sun exposure and soaking in water. You’ll receive specific instructions based on the type of tattoo, but generally, you’ll need to wash the area gently and apply a recommended aftercare product. (See aftercare highlight)

 

7. Can I work out after getting a tattoo?

 

•It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise after a tattoo, especially exercises that cause friction or sweating in the tattooed area. This can depend massively on the style and placement of the tattoo, so exercise could well be possible, but It is best to wait until your tattoo has fully healed before engaging in activities that could affect the healing process.

 

8. Can I get a tattoo if I have sensitive skin or allergies?

 

•This would need to be judged on a case by case scenario. Questions on the release form will need to be answered regarding allergies and other health issues. However please get in touch if you have concerns about this. For latex allergies, all Edinburgh studios must use non-latex gloves.

 

9. What should I do if my tattoo becomes infected?

 

•While infections are rare, they can happen. Symptoms include excessive redness, swelling, or pus. If you suspect an infection, seek medical attention immediately and contact me to discuss next steps.

 

10. How much will my tattoo cost?

 

•Pricing depends on the size, complexity, and location of the tattoo, as well as the amount of time required. I can provide an estimate based on your design idea. A deposit is required to book a session, and it will go toward the total cost.

 

11. Do you take walk-ins or are appointments required?

 

•I accept both, but it’s always best to schedule an appointment to ensure you get the time and attention needed for your tattoo. Walk-ins are welcome if my schedule allows

 

.12. Can tattoos be removed or covered up?

 

•Tattoos can be removed with laser treatments, but this process can be costly and take multiple sessions. I also offer cover-up work to modify or completely transform an old tattoo.

 

13. How do you ensure appropriate hygiene standards?

 

•I follow strict hygiene protocols, including using single-use, disposable needles, and gloves. All tools are sanitised and wrapped with barrier film before each use, and the workspace is kept clean and covered to prevent cross contamination.

 

14. Can I get a tattoo if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

 

•A hard no for this one. Your body is more vulnerable to infections during this time, so no tattoo until after finishing breastfeeding.

 

15. What should I do if I’m not happy with my design?

 

•Communication is key. We’ll discuss the design and your expectations before the tattoo begins to avoid any issues. If you’re unhappy with the design, we can work together to ensure you get a tattoo that you love.

 

16. Do you offer touch-ups?

 

•Yes, I offer free touch-ups up to 6 months after the tattoo. Beyond that, touch-ups may incur an additional fee depending on the situation

 

.17. Can I bring a friend with me?

 

•You’re welcome to bring a friend for moral support, but keep in mind that space may be limited. Too many people can also be distracting for both you and me while I’m working.

 

18. What’s your cancellation policy?

 

•I require 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Deposits are non-refundable, but they can be applied to future appointments if you give enough notice.
